About

I am a scholar and teacher of communication. Currently, I work as a lecturer at the University of South Dakota. Go Yotes!

I began college life as an English major, graduating with a degree in that subject from Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington. From there, I moved on to Washington State University and earned my master's in communication as a Coug. Following three years working as a communication consultant (first for People For Puget Sound and then for South Puget Sound Community College), I returned to WSU for my Ph.D., completing my work with an emphasis on media discourse and environmental communication in 2012.

Upon earning my Ph.D., I was hired as an instructor for a year at WSU. Then, in fall 2013, I made the big move to join the Communication Studies Department at USD.

In my free time, I especially enjoy experiencing nature. I like bird-watching, photography, and fishing, and I love my native Pacific Northwest.
